Carbon fiber / Advanced materials – Thinner and lighter without compromise

Using the perfect materials for each component that makes a thinkpad ultra-thin, ultra-light and ultra-tough

To build the strongest, lightest and most durable laptops, Think engineers use the most advanced materials on the planet. The carbon fiber used to construct a ThinkPad is satellite grade – stronger than that used in aeroplanes and F1 race cars. It's just one third of the weight of aluminium and more shock absorbent too.

But it's not just the use of carbon fiber in a ThinkPad that makes it so durable. Magnesium alloy and stainless steel are used to produce the casing and chassis, as well as super strong and lightweight individual components.

It's this combination of the perfect materials for each component that makes a ThinkPad ultra-thin, ultra-light and ultra-tough.
